Baby Octopus Free Crochet Pattern
Materials
- Size 7mm crochet hook
- Weight 6 bulky yarn
- Regular black yarn for mouth
- 12mm safety eyes
- Stuffing material
- Stitch marker
- Needle for closing
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- MR (magic ring or magic circle)
- SC (single crochet)
- INC (increase)
- DEC (decrease)
- SLST (slip stitch)
Head
- Round 1: 7SC in MR (7)
- Round 2: 7INC (14)
- Round 3-4: 14SC (14)
- Round 5: 7DEC (7)
- Attach eyes between rounds 3-4 about 3 stitches apart.
Tenticles
Spiral: Chain 5 (can make longer or shorter), 2SC into each stitch back down the chain, SLST into front loop of next stitch. Repeat 8 times around the bottom of the head and finish with a SLST. (pull your yarn tight before each SLST)
Straight: Chain 5 (can make longer or shorter), 1SC into each stitch back down the chain, SLST into front loop of next stitch. Repeat 8 times around the bottom of the head and finish with a SLST. (pull your yarn tight before each SLST)
Finishing Off
- Stuff the head.
- Cut your yarn leaving a long tail for closing.
- Using your needle, thread the yarn to the inside of the opening and through each back loop around and pull tight to close.
- Thread around again and pull if you still have a gap.
- Take your yarn through the middle of the bottom to the top of the head and finish off.
- Take regular black yarn to sew on mouth detail between the eyes.
