About
Welcome to Ivy Pixi!
A shop for handmade crochet items.
About Me
Hello! My name is Ivy and I am based in the south of England in the UK. I am a self taught crocheter and absolutely love it! I am late diagnosed ADHD and Autistic and have been trying to find hobbies that would help with my anxiety and concentration, learning to crochet has helped me so much and given me something that I've become proud of sticking to and seeing my progress and accomplishments with it has been very rewarding.
When did I start crocheting?
I started my crochet journey at the beginning of 2023 and taught myself with the help of Youtube videos and tutorials. Once I was confident enough I started to make amigurumi (the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures) and follow basic patterns, slowly learning how to read and make more complex patterns. By June in 2023 I had started using thicker, fluffy yarn when making most of my plushies.
Why did I decide to sell?
I started selling some of my items on Etsy, Ebay and Facebook and had some good feedback. After not having great success with Etsy however I decided to eventually make and start my own website shop! I am confident in the quality of my work and as I love to crochet so much and have limited storage space it made sense for me to start selling. My items can also now be found in Artisan Island which is based in Weymouth.
Product Info
Why is crochet pricey?
Crochet is a skill that takes a long time to master and can't be replicated with tools or machines so all crochet items are unique and made by hand! Yarns for plushies can be quite pricey along with other materials like stuffing, the prices also consider how long a particular item takes to make. I usually set myself an hourly wage and time myself while making an item to get as fair a price as possible.
Are the items safe for babies or children?
Items including safety eyes are not safe for babies or young children (under 3) as they can pose a safety hazard with choking if they did come loose. I also always include this information on any product listings that include safety eyes. However, most products without safety eyes are safe for babies and young children, I will include in my listings recommended age ranges. Items made with a more velvet yarn will be prone to shedding if handled alot.
Can I request custom orders?
Yes! You can contact me via the contact form to enquire about custom orders. (no large clothing items)
How do I wash my items?
Items made with regular acrylic or cotton yarn will be fine in a regular 30c wash using non-bio and a wash bag. Plushie and velvet yarn should be gently wiped down, non velvet yarn is ok in a regular 30c non-bio wash inside of a mesh wash bag but may need abit of re-shaping after. Items should not be tumble-dried. Cleaning recommendations will also be included on individual listings.
If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me and I will get back to you ASAP.
Happy shopping and thank you for supporting my small handmade business!
