If you're like me and struggle to master the magic ring to start your crochet projects, I hope this tutorial can help!
This is the only way of doing the magic ring that I could grasp and follow, I will attempt to write up written instructions here aswell as including the short video tutorial I made showing exactly how I do it with both regular yarn and also bulky fluffy yarn.
- Take the end of your yarn and hold it against the inside of your third finger with your thumb.
- Wrap the yarn up over your first finger and under the bottom of your second finger.
- Take the yarn back up over the top of your first finger crossing it over the top of the yarn.
- Take the yarn under your third finger and hold in place with your thumb along with your starting yarn.
- Looking at the top of your hand you should have a longer strand of yarn and a shorter strand of yarn.
- Take your crochet hook and slide it under the shorter strand towards the longer strand.
- Hook it over the top of the longer stand and pull under the shorter strand.
- Twist your hook so that the yarn is looped on.
- Take more yarn with your hook and pull through the loop.
- You now have your magic ring and can continue to crochet into it according to your pattern.
I hope you found this tutorial helpful and here is the video version if you need more help:
